As our project portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking a Project Manager to join our Transportation Engineering team—someone who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment and enjoys transforming complex ideas into successful, well-executed projects.

The Role:

As a Project Manager at HELIX, you will oversee the full lifecycle of transportation engineering projects – from proposal and estimating through construction and post project wrap-up. This is a client-facing role, where you will work closely with municipalities, contractors and internal teams to ensure successful project deliver.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects through all phases of design and delivery
  • Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, budgets and work plans
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, municipalities and provincial agencies
  • Monitor project progress, costs, and schedules, and proactively address risks
  • Review technical deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards
  • Support proposal preparation, project planning, and workload forecasting
  • Ensure projects meet applicable safety, regulatory, and contractual requirements
  • Preform Site visits as required.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.

Required Qualifications:

Given the variety of needs and a desire to find the right person to fit within our team, we will consider candidates with a range of experience, education, and background.  As assets to the position, we are looking for the following skills, strengths and interests.  The ideal candidate would have:

  • Diploma or degree in civil engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing transportation, highway, or roadway projects
  • Strong understanding of municipal and provincial roadway design standards
  • Excellent communication, and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve project goals.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain, and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
